Engine Noise | The Car Audio Blog

Someone asked one of our reps about engine noise thru there Subwoofers, we decided to post the response just in case it mite help someone else. Enjoy.

First, make sure you have a really good ground. Your ground should be metal to metal, no paint in-between and not grounded to the battery. A bad ground is probably the number one cause of engine noise. Second, Make sure you do not have the power wire and your RCA's running down the same side of your vehicle. You should run the power wire down the driver’s side and the RCA's down the passenger side. If those don't cure your problem there are several more things you could try like: noise suppressors or shielded RCA's. Last but not least make sure the noise isn't coming thru your amp or your Crossover ( if you have one). I don't know what kind of amplifier you have, but try running the speakers with another that amp ( if possible) just to rule it out as the problem.
