Where's Your Amp Rack
For the new year some car audio enthusiasts will be moving their Amp Racks to a more convenient location. Unless your car is pimped out, I doubt you have your amplifiers encased in clear plexiglass mounted into the floor of the trunk. If your like most of us your amp rack consists of a piece of plywood ( somewhere in your trunk ) with your Amplifier, Crossover, and Distribution block screwed to it. Nothing could be more frustrating as when you have blown a fuse or need to tweak a setting on your cross-over, but having to move your heavy subwoofer box first. If you are one of these audiophiles then you may want to consider re-arranging your gear in the trunk. With most set-ups you can easily move your amplifier, crossovers and other car audio peripherals to the side. The first thing you should is take measurments of the side compartments of your trunk. Once you have these measurements you should be able to go to most any hardware to purchase and get the wood cut for you. Next you could carpet the wood to match your trunk to give it more of a custom look. For around $25 you should be able to buy a small piece of carpet and some glue. Next mount the your new carpeted Racks to the side of your trunk. Try finding a spot in the trunk where the metal is thick and doesn't have any kind of electrical wiring running thru it. After you have installed your New Amp Racks, now all have to do is re-run your wires neatly and split loom them ( if desired). Its a simply project that could really give your system the custom look you've been wanting. Have any ideas for installing a New Amp Rack, Let us know with your comments.
